Could it be Gluten Intolerance?

Here is my story and I don't know what to do:

6 weeks ago I had to go to hospital with stomach pain in my upper abdominal. They gave me Nexium 40mg and sent me home! All was good for the next days I took Nexium and was OK.

I saw my GP he tested for HP and blood(not for gluten I believe) and ultrasound, all normal! He told me to take Nexium for 3 month and eat plain food like breads and stuff (I mostly did eat salads and fruit before and yogurt, only had cereal and 1 toast per day in average), I went to 3 toast a day and stayed wth cereal in the morning, mostly eat spaghetti at night.

Gosh I got constipated like crazy and was feeling worse, sick sick sick every day, I went back, he put me on Movicol and Somac 40mg, I am still sick sick sick even though I go to the toilet normal. The only change is that I now feel very weak as well. Cant take more meds! He said its GORD and IBS. I am seeing the specialist soon!

I always had constipation issues since I am 14 (10years) and it goes from that to diarrhea sometimes. I always had a bit of gas and lots of bloating. I always had daily nausea for a few days and then nothing for a few month. Doctors tested lactose when I was 19, negative, they said its stress.

I am on Iberogast at least 1-2 times a week. It all improved after moving to Australia eating mostly fruit and veg in summer. This winter I got a slam in the face with the heartburn and pain. And now being on that plain diet or the meds, i don't know, but i feel nausea daily, mostly after or before dinner.

My mum is allergic against wheat, rye and malt, no one ever tested her on gluten. She did cut out all those products and feels better, but not fine.

I do also have a blocked nose daily since i am 14. Dry mouth during the day daily, eczema, dermatitis, acne (bad at the moment), breathing problems now and then, dry eyes, yeast infections a lot, nausea, bloating, constipation, gas, migraines, headaches, dizzy spells, concentration problems, mood swings, mild depression and mild anxiety (sometimes with no reason)...

I cant live like that, I want that sorted. What to do? Could it be Gluten Intolerance? Any experiences? Does that sound familiar? I am out of options I feel.

Sounds familiar
by: Diana

Certainly sounds very familiar, took my husband years before they would do a biopsy and guess what ? he is a coeliac as is his brother and some other members of his family.
I stopped eating wheat 6 yrs ago because of bloating but I am wheat intolerant not a true coeliac.
He is also dairy intolerant and had a funny rash that cleared up when wheat was stopped.
Your need to be properly tested.

good luck and dont give up

Trust your feelings
by: Anonymous

Last year I developed chronic indigestion. I looked at my diet and decided it was whenever I ate things like bread. My mum died of bowel cancer and was never really diagnosed properly for stomach pains after eating.

I went on a gluten free diet and was feeling better in a couple of days, but it took a year or so to fully recover. Scans showed no problems with my internal organs.

I was not prepared to add gluten back into my diet just so the doctor could do a gluten intolerance blood test, but get pains in the stomach if I accidentally eat gluten when I am eating out.

Trust your instincts and stop eating gluten to see if you feel better .... and give it time.

critical to get tested
by: J Karr

...but do NOT stop eating gluten!! immediately call your doctor for a blood test and read this:
http://www.nakedfood.ca/testing.php

most importantly ready the part about "testing" and why you need to find out scientifically instead of doing your own self trial

best of luck!

Go to gluten free diet
by: Anonymous

Try it for 3 months and get results.i was like that when i had diarrhea and constipation it does not matter it depends on how much y use oil that is important part of ceiliac disease.if for several days you eat oil y will get diarrhea.

but i suggest y go to diet and try it.without diagnostic.
