Gluten Free Doctor dDssatisfaction

by Bronwyn
(Tweed Heads)

I went to my Doctor suspecting with what I have read that I have a food intolerance the headaches have been getting worse and have a lot of the other symptoms.

The doctor refused to do a blood test and gave me 7 injections in the back and head for my headache. Telling me a gluten free diet is expensive (she knows I am financially struggling) and why bother.

I feel frustrated and dont know what to do next?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Bronwyn - Tweed Heads

Doctors don't believe in food intolerances
by: Anonymous

Easy to say find a new doctor and if anyone finds one who believes in food intolerances let us all know! I have been to 3 different doctors over the course of 8 years complaining of problems associated with eating gluten with NONE of them ever considering a food intolerance, rather blaming my 'busy life'. I took matters into my own hands and found a company that did food intolerance testing and as a result found that not only was I gluten intolerant - I was also casin (protein in dairy) intolerant. I eliminated these from my diet and as a result found out that what I had been living with (weight gain, sore rumbling bloated stomach, always feeling vague and almost headachey, IBS) was hell. The only problem is will power for me because 30 years of my life I have loved gluten filled products and most of the non gluten free don't just taste the same. I have been back on the gluten cause I wanted to see if I am Celiac. The doctor had the smugest look on his face when I said that I wanted to be tested cause I am gluten intolerant! I am awaiting the results and getting back to gluten free. I dislike doctors!

Just do it
by: GFhealthy

Firstly, get yourself a new doctor!!!!!!! Then go GF. Some things are more expensive but that cost is offset by the savings from not buying all the processed junk food. The closer to nature a food is the less likely that it has gluten as an additive so eating a diet of healthy fresh GF food can be cheap. To my body gluten is a toxic substance. I wouldn't drink draino and I don't eat gluten. They are both poisons to me. It's a frame of mind that makes choosing to live healthy and pain free an easy choice.
GF=gluten free=good food
Good luck.

its possible
by: Anonymous

We went gluten free, it firstly helped decrease markedly tantrums for my eldest son and secondly, my tiredness, headaches, nausea. Its worth a try for a month, just to see if it helps. Nothing to lose and yes,,,change to a dr who is supporting and can tell you what you can do,,not what you can't do.

You can do it cheaper by making your own breads etc instead of buying them. I feed 4 of us gluten free, but I make my own flour to help cut down on the costs.

Gluten Free Doctor
by: Anonymous

Hi There,

If I was you, I would find another doctor. I went through 2 doctors before I found the right one.

A Gluten Free diet is a little pricey but I am managing on a limited budget.
