I think I am Gluten intolerant - where do I begin?

by Brenda
(Australia)

For years (on and off) I have had symptoms such as bloating, constipation, abdominal pain, lethargy and the little itchy blistery legions appearing from time to time.

I could never seem to put it down to any one particular thing and no GP ever found a cause of the itchy blisters but I have just seen reference to them on this website and with all the other things mentioned here I finally realize that I am more than likely Gluten intolerant.

Where do I go from here?

Tests and Biopsy
by: Deb Marxsen

I would suggest from personal experience, don't go on a gluten free diet yet, get blood tests and small bowel biopsy/skin biopsy first to test for gluten intolerence; then if negative result, talk to doc about an elimination diet if you still feel it could be gluten because sometimes it doesn't show up in the tests either...
