All staff are told this information in their training and continued training, there is also posters in their staff rooms and offices, in saying that it is only in company owned stores that this training program is in forced, therefore if it is a franchise store you won't get the same product knowledge from the staff as you would at a company owned store.

This chicken is not Gluten free or safe for people on a strict GF Diet.
by: Louise van Delden

I have asked Red Rooster stores in Brisbane if they are Gluten Free. And been told they are. As I have recently been told they are not, could you please educate your staff that this food is not safe for coeliac or gluten intolerant people to eat.
It cause great health concerns.

Red rooster is not gluten free
by: Anonymous

Red Rooster chicken is not gluten free as it all comes with stuffing and even if the stuffing is removed after cooking the chicken is contaminated with gluten. The chips are cooked in the same fryer as crumbed products and the seasoning has gluten in it. From experience there is nothing safe to eat at Red rooster free from contamination.

Macdonalds Breakfest
by: Katrina Patch

I've had maccas bacon and egg mcmuffin in a container without the muffin.

Yum on the run.

Don't have an m&m mcflurry.

There's gluten in the m&ms.

Can order from Macdonalds if you order without the bun, too.

They put it in a carton with a knife and fork here in australia.

Fries are alright too.

Take your own rolls
by: Ash Ghahramani

My wife takes her own rolls and they always make her burgers(McDonald's that is) without a card.

The brand is Naturally Glutenfree from memory. She thinks it's the closest to a cheesburger bun she has found.

What you can and can not eat
by: Nikki Psarros

Mcdonalds does have a nutrition sheet on their website that tells you all the ingredients product by product. I now have a list in my bag of all the things I can eat.

Seasonings and Sauces
by: Elizabeth Jones Anderson

Even the Red Rooster chips have seasoning that isn't gluten free.

Check websites for allergy information sheets - although sometimes they're not much help; the McDonalds one lists by product not by ingredient.

Big Mac - not gluten free... well duh!

How about the meat patty or the mayonnaise? It also doesn't say on their website about the using your own bread so that was good to know.

What About McDonalds
by: Trish King

When I was first diagnosed, over 30 years ago, the answer was NO.

When in doubt, don't. Sorry.

If you join the Ceoliac Society you will receive cards that upon presentation to Mc Donalds, they will make up any hamburger order using your bread.

I don't know how you would go without the card. The card just states that you are a Ceoliac sufferer and McDonalds have said that they will be obliging using your own bread, rolls etc.

Hope this is of help to you.

Red Rooster Chicken And A Gf Diet
by: Gluten Free Aussie

Hi Michelle,

Good Question, There is a major issue when it comes to food chains, even if the ingredients themselves are gluten free there is still the issue of cross contamination.

Red rooster cook there chicken, chips, stuffing, battered items and rolls all in the same kitchen so there is always a chance of cross contamination.

As for the chicken itself I would avoid anything crumbed so this is not suitable.

I am not sure about the chicken's gluten free state as there website claims the chicken is "marinated and seasoned" it would depend on what it is glazed/seasoned with.

Also chain stores like these sometimes use a chicken salt with a wheat base which can also be an issue.

I suggest going in store and asking if they have a nutritional leaflet or emailing the head office.
